The exact circumstances of his death are under investigation, they said. Texas Governor Greg Abbott said the shooting was the worst in the state's history in modern times. He also confirmed the number of victims. A pregnant woman and children were among those identified as dead by officials, who said that at least 20 others had been injured in the attack. Officials said that they were investigating social media accounts of Kelley, and indicated that he had been pictured on at least one online platform with an assault-style rifle resembling an AR-15. The town has been described in media reports as a "one blinking light town", and one that appears to be deeply religious. At least eight of the shooting victims were taken to a nearby hospital in San Antonio. One of those victims was a five year old boy who was shot several times during the attack. One of the victims has been identified as the church pastors 14-year-old daughter, although the pastor was reportedly not present during the shooting.
